Dying birds

They are getting purina 16% protein layer feed. I supplement vitamins with a crumble feed and vegetable scraps. Lice is being treated with a spray used directly on the birds and coop.

Any vitamin mixes or is this it? It's nut really enough and can compound the problem

Did they feel very skinny? Did you ever weigh them or trimmed back their head fluff to allow for unobstructed view?

Silkie crests tend to overgrow and cover their eyes leaving them unable to feed themselves properly. Sometimes they starve to death.

The first silkie to pass was very skinny actually. The others aren’t skinny but slender. I do trim them when needed, though they don’t get the excessive fluff like many do, and I make sure they eat well when feeding. They also get hot pepper flakes to help prevent intestinal worms.

Pepper flakes will not prevent or treat worms. They will prevent rats and mice from stealing the feed as they being mammals will feel the hot burning sensation.
