Hello everyone, I'm new to chickens and I just got 5 baby chicks! 4 of them are up and healthy, my fifth looks like she might be dying or something. Someone please help! Since I got her, she's been in the corner, I thought she was just sleeping. But I picked her up so I could switch her to a bigger house and she continues to have her eyes shut. She won't move and seems very limp. When I stand her up, or the other chicks step on her, she falls right to her back or side and can't get up. She seems a little Better than when I first got her a few hours ago but still very worried. I separated her from the others bc they were stepping on her and pecking at her. Again, her eyes never

opened. Please help me!!!

Also, her head seems to always be limp and flop backwards!

Unfortunately, I have never been able to save one once it gets to this point You could try dribbling some poultry vitamins (poultry drench) trickled on the side of her beak to see if she will swallow it. It's hard because at this point she probably won't swallow and you could risk making her aspirate the liquid.

Maybe someone else will be around with better advice.

Well, when I stick her beak in the water, she drinks it! But she is constantly laying down not moving, so she can't drink or eat on her own

Poor baby sounds like she could possibly have coccidosis. Its treated with corid. Corid kills all 9 strains of cocci. Coccidosis can be present with or with out bloody poop. symptoms are closing eyes extreme sleepiness lethergie ruffled feathers. And may or may not have bloody poop. take a look online at coccidosis and see if you agree her symptoms match. If you can get the baby to drink it might be possible to treat her but please let me be honest she is very weak and at this point unless you can get her to drink and swallow she won't be able to take the treatment. I don't think she will be able to swallow at this point. Carefully see if you can get her to accept some water.if she can not just make her comfortable and love her. I'm so so sorry but it seems she might be in her last moments. When they are this weak there is not much you can do except make her comfortable. When you offer water does she except it or is she too weak to drink? I really wish I could be of more help. Perhaps some one else knows of something more to help? But for now just keep her comfortable. Again I'm so sorry!

If you agree it might be coccidosis and you can get her to drink you can try treating her with corid and see if it will help her. take a look at symptoms of cocci and remember it can be present with or without bloody poop.if you agree she might have this then you can try to get her to drink the water with corid in it. I really hope this helps! Time is of essence with her. If you are going to try to treat her I'd do it soon.I wish you the best of luck

She passed away last night :'( and now another one of my chicks is acting the same exact way. I heard it was highly contagious so she might have caught it even though I separated them!
