Dying Chicks... now 3 (no 6) are dead. Whats going on?

Take some chick feed and make a wet mash out of it. See if they like it. I hope things turn around .

Oh my goodness--so sorry for you

Is their poo normal or runny? Since you started over you may want to keep on eye on their poo--it may have been hard to see on straw. I would put some of the electrolytes with vitamins (with out iron) in their water--not too much-- in case they had a deficiency of some kind. I am hoping you have seen an end to any more losses

Well its been two hours and I haven't seen any more losses. Everything is changed out and everyone looks happy and healthy. The weakling looks good.... I can't help being pessimistic though. We'll see how tonight goes. Thanks for everyones help!

Okay... we made it through the night without any deaths. They all look pretty healthy and are chirpping away.

Thank you to EVERYONE'S help!

Rain, I know you feel bad. I try to think of my first blunder as a lesson in having wonderful chicks in the future. In my very first hatch I had 12 eggs, one hatched. I kept her in a see thru box on the table. She chirped all the time. So we fed her some yogurt on our finger. I "saw" her eat, but, later on realized that she died at day 5 because she was picking at the crumbles but they were too big for her. My next batch I had 8 hatch. I also thought they were eating. But they started chirping all the time. I took the crumbles and ground them down. They acted like vultures! So now I always do, and the poor little first one died, and taught me a valuable thing.

Good luck with the rest of the chicks.
