Dying Hen.... more than a broken leg???

so I should probably take her in after she dies and have them do a necropsy to determine cause???? and if its this Marek's, does that mean my whole flock is doomed???[/QUOTE/] Not doomed you can vaccinate. People who say I don't have Mareks in my flock should say I don't have it yet . It's everywhere and been around for a long time . Necropsy is the best way to be sure what your dealing with . It will also give you a direction for treatment should you have future illness. Just lost one with similar systems .To be fair I only think that's what is wrong with the hen . There are so many viruses and parasites that chickens get .

UPDATE... LAST NIGHT I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE SHE HAD NOT PASSED YET. AS SHE WAS LOOKING VERY GRIM AND QUITE MOTIONLESS. i GOT HOME FROM WORKED A AND SHE WAS STILL WITH US... THIS IS HARD TO SEE AND I WAS SO TORN ON WHAT TO DO... BECAUSE ALL OF MY OPTIONS WERE HARD TO COMPREHEND... DO I DO NOTHING AND LET HER SUFFER, SO I MAKE HER EAT AND DRINK AND PROLONG THE PROCESS, DO I DSTOP FOOD AND WATER AND SPEED IT UP, OR DO I COME UP WITH A WAY TO HUMAINLY PUT HER OUT OF HER MISERY... SO I ASKED MY FAMILY. ... SO MY STEP DAUGHTER (WHO GET MAD AT ME WHEN I TRAP THE RATS AND MICE) CONVINCED US TO CONTINUE FEEDING AND WATERING....

WELL THIS MORNING I FOUND A CHICKEN ALIVE AND SITTING UP, STILL NOT MOVING , BUT DEFINITELY NOT LAYED OUT ON HER BACK. I REFILLED HER WATER AND FOOD WHICH SHE ATE ALL LAST NIGHT AND SHE BEGAN EATING AND DRINKING RIGHT AWAY. HER LEGS STILL SEEM LIMP BUT YESTURDAY I COULD EVEN MAKE HER SIT UP IN THE ROOST POSITION AND THIS MORNING SHE WAS UP ON HER OWN SITTING UP....
DO CHICKENS RECOVER FROM MEREKS ON THERE OWN?? COULD IT STILL BE SOMETHING ELSE... OH I AM SO CONFUSED

When was the last time she laid an egg? Any shell-less or soft-shelled eggs been laid? Can you palpate her abdominal area, feel for an egg stuck?

Also, how cold is it in your area? Could she have run out of water? Dehydration in the cold can set in fast...

What do her poops look like? How is her weight? Is she eating and drinking on her own?

@casportpony any thoughts?

.. Im not 100% sure she has started laying.... if so she deffinately havent layed since this all started with not being able yo walk.. it has gotten down to the high 20s to low 30s especially while this orginally hit and through christmas. though its back to the 40s now... her poops were good and normal looking until this began... then yesterday and the day before they were a mess but she looked to be nearly dead so i havent paid close attention to the poop.. but now she is sitting up and is drinking and eating on her own , but still not moblie... this all may have started a week ago when i noticed she was not going up to the roost. ... i though she was just being a stupid chicken because for a couple days prior to the legs becoming inoperative she was just going to sit under the roost at night, which meant the otherchickens would just sit up there and poop on her. i didnt even think that it was because she could not get up there. i though she just wast that smart. so id move her each day ...that was a few days prior to the lamaless. we have 6 hens and 1 rooster and we get 3-5 eggs aday and this hen was an add on given to us so im not specific on her age but she appeared a few weeks younger then our others... i know for sure where 4 of the egss are coming from , but not sure which of the remaining 2 hens were laying the 5th egg... im not saying dehydration is impossible but i have the family pretty trained to make sure they have plenty fresh water daily and to check on it throughout the day...

she does get very excited for scratch mix.. just gave her some. though its sad because her dbody wont move the way her mind wants in order to get to the scratch mix. but once she flopped over to it she scarfed it down. her tail end is a messs. feathers ar poopy and matted and not well kept looking ... but im not sure if its just because she cant walk so she is pooping on herself and rolling in it

here is a photo i just took
