eagle eye/ i think she is slowly dieing!!! :-(

Hmmm.... i just got done petting eagle eye and on my hand were a bunch of really little bugs. like you could barley see them! could this be from her? and if so could any kind of little bug do this much damage to her? i don't think its the bugs or she would have been scratching a lot back when she could move easier.

hey guys i just noticed she is panting a lot! maybe she has asthma? also a couple minutes ago she moved like 2 feet! thats the most she has moved the past 2 days! the sad thing is that she was dragging herself the whole way.

. but she was panting all day so it wasn't because she moved.

i don't know what the mites look like i just know they were really little like almost microscopic. i checked her skin and they aren't in her feathers.

Why are you giving her epsom salt, not sure if that's a good idea? You should give her some plain Pedialite (it's for babies) instead, or if you have any vitamin/electrolyte for chickens, that's even better. For a little nutrition, you may try babyfood or yogurt mixed thin with water to give her.

Have you checked her crop? Does it feel empty like it should when she hasn't eaten?

Mites/lice can actually kill a bird if not treated. Do some research and try to identify the bugs you saw. If it is lice or mites, dust her with a poultry dust or sevin dust to kill them, be careful not to let her breathe the dust. She won't last long if the bugs already have her anemic and weak, so act fast to get rid of them. Since you saw them on you as you petted her I'd guess she has mites (they are tiny), where else could they have come from if not from her?

If she were mine, I'd bathe her in the flea/tick shampoo immediately and dry her on the LOW setting of a blow dryer.

Oh dear. I feel sorry for ee. If the little bugs came from her, and it sounds like they did, they could kill her. I don't know what kind of little bug it is, but I think a fast treatment is Ivermectin? I don't know if it would be appropriate in this circumstance or not but you can look it up.

my step dad just told me we don't get mites up here in Enumclaw, Washington. But it still could be lice or fleas. but could the bugs make her lose her apatite? she won't eat, she sleeps all day, she stopped laying eggs, she poops green witch i know is from starvation, and she is too weak to even stand or even sit up straight. i'm so worried about her! it could be a verity of things! lets pray and hope the best for my little hen Eagle Eye.
