Ear ache remedies?

More home remedies from online. Use at your own risk. I've never tried any of them.

Step1Take a hair dryer or a heating pad and use the warm setting. If you use the hot setting you will burn yourself. Hold the hair dryer a little ways from your ear to allow the warm air to blow in. If you decide to use a heating pad, turn it on warm and lay the side where the earache is on the heating pad. The warm air from the hair dryer and the warm heat from the heating pad will ease the pain.

Step 2Take a piece of garlic and puncture it to get the juice out. Pour the juice in the ear that hurts and it will ease the ache. Garlic has a natural antibiotic in it and will help ease the discomfort.

Step 3Put a few drops of olive oil or mineral oil in the sore ear and the oil will help ease the pain. Warm the oil up like you would a baby’s bottle, under the hot tap water for a few minutes. Use whatever kind of oil you have readily available, olive oil or mineral oil, as either will help ease the pain. Make sure you test the warm oil before using it in your ear. The warm oil should be at body temperature. Apply it with an ear dropper and only use enough oil to coat the inner lining of the ear.

Step 4Take a hot water bottle and wrap it in a towel. Use the towel wrapped hot water bottle as a pillow by laying the sore ear on it. Again, the heat from the hot water bottle will ease the pain from the sore ear. The towel is used to make it into a pillow and to keep from burning your ear.

Step 5Take a microwave safe plate and heat it up. Wrap it in a towel and lay the sore ear on it like a pillow. Make sure it is not too hot, body temperature warm is safe enough to use. This works like the hot water bottle.

Sleep on a heating pad. If you have no other symptoms at all besides your ears being sore and plugged, I am betting you have wax plugs in there. Dont ask me how I know. It was HORRIBLE.

Okay, I found the one I was thinking of-

put a damp rag inside a microwave safe cup. microwave for 1 minute and hold the cup to your ear the steam rises into your ear and loosens up any wax build ups causing discomfort. sometimes the drainage can be gross, i suggest using an old rag u can throw away after.

This site also suggested a few drops of vinegar might help relieve discomfort.

Good luck. Ear aches are the absolute worst!

Someone told my mom that years ago when I was a kid. I got an earache after swimming so she blew cigarette smoke in my ear and put in a piece of cotton. All I can say is the earache went away. I don't know how heathy of a remedy it is, but it worked for me.

Did it for years an always worked. Also, rubbing wet chewing tobacco in a colicky babys belly makes it go away. Grandmother gave that tip to some people at the hospital. There baby had been there for months with bad colic. They tried it an shocked the docs. Baby went home the next day...

Garlic oil works real good for ears. It comes in capsules.... Not sure what it is really for?

His rememdy doesn't involve smoke.

rebelcowboysnb, people take garlic capsules for the health effects because they supposedly won't cause BO.
Personally, we prefer to eat garlic in most anything I cook. We love it so much we slice cloves thin and layer on french bread. That's awesome toasted with a little provolone on top!

Wet tobacco is an awesome remedy for bee stings. Takes the burn right out of the welt.

I had awful earaches as a child, Heating Pad worked wonders, but way back then we only had one, so some nights it was a hot water bottle on one ear and heating pad on the other. They stopped when I had my tonsils removed. I do know the oil helps some.

Absolutely disagree with this one...sorry debi!

Do not use heat. It may help the ache, but it's possible that there is infection inside of your ear. The infected eardrum will build up in pressure then rupture. It hurts like heck and makes will cause scarring to develop which will hurt your hearing. I would apply heat until AFTER your doctor's visit.

I've had it happen...not fun. It happens every time I have a sinus infection. Instead of the drainage dripping down my throat or nose like normal people, it backs up into my eardrums.

Pour dry rice into a sock, tie one end then microwave for a few minutes. Use this as a hot compress. Also, walgreens sells some earache relief drops that really work.
