Hello,
I noticed a couple of days ago one of my pullets appeared to have sustained an injury to her earlobe or wattle. When I tried to investigate she would run and I felt I was stressing her out more than it was work. Today she still appears to have the injury and my husband and I intend on capturing her and trying to assess and address the injury. She otherwise appears to be well. I am assuming it was a mounting injury or a pecking order squabble. Any recommendations on how to clean it or what to apply to the wound? Unfortunately we will be culling her and the rest of the flock in a couple of weeks due to Marek's and our relocation to a new property (as we have been advised to do by our vet). I would like to avoid antibiotic use as we do intend on eating her. I would prefer something homeopathic, if possible. However, I do not want her to suffer and would do what is needed for her.
What should I be looking for? Is this common?
Thanks in advance.
