Yay! I get home from work and there is a baby in the incubator. Soooo excited!

Today is day 19-didn't think I'd see anything til Sat. He is happy and perky, all over the other eggs. I'm worried, I should just leave him in there - until Sat.??? I'm nervous!

Thanks!!!!!

You could take him out or leave him in there. You may want to leave him in, so you don't loose your humidity. Chicks can live for 3 days without food from the day they hatch. Glad he's doing fine! Have fun with the rest of your hatch

I agree with FlashPointFarm. Leave him be. It won't hurt him/her.

So cute! Thanks for the pic!

Thanks for the info. I feel better... Just gonna leave him. I don't know why I think it's a he.. Wonder what it is? Could be anything, we have a mixed flock... This is our 1st hatch and I'm just so excited.

I came here to ask the same question!...I too have a chick born today and mine also were due on Saturday...Thanks for asking and answering this question...Sure hope more of mine hatch because my baby is going to be lonely!

I say you grab him out.... better to grab him now before the others start piping then to lose patience and grab him after they are hatching.... besides, the humidity gets back up really really fast there really isnt any huge effect at all to hurry and grab it.... you forget that the mother hen still gets up to eat and poop on days 18 through 21 so they are use to losing a little humidity for a second.

And then you have a little guy to play with and try out the brooder to make the time go faster waiting for the other guys!
