OK i know there is little chance these eggs are fertile but i wanted to give ya a bit of helpful advice: I don't ever put an egg a day in the bator I wait till ya have a clutch that way you lock them all down at the same time and should be hatching about the same time

Zaz, I know you are right, and really, if it were hatching season, I probably would have. This whole thing was just so unexpected and I didn't really think about her continuing to lay more eggs... And meanwhile, she's walking around with her wings down and tailfeathers out... she is obviously not done yet, and now I'm in for it. Assuming the darned things are fertile and viable

I just didn't expect there to BE any more eggs. It even snowed yesterday.

Today I started seriously wondering how long she is gonna keep this up, cuz she is just so obviously not done

At least I have the spare incubator (that old h3llbator I keep whining about) so I can hatch in it if I have to...

On the fourth day of Christmas, my dear hen gave to me...

One... more... egg

(I checked at 6 pm, after dark, no egg. Checked at 8:30 pm, a beautiful egg. Not totally chilled through yet. Go figure... that's two in last two days, I think three in last three days, and possibly four in last four days, depending on when the first one was laid.)

(Zaz, at this point all I can do is keep popping 'em in there.... if they are fertile, it's gonna be a long week)

Hey Zaz, I've been thinking some more (well, ruminating is more like it

) and I'm thinking the Egg Queen is gonna go ahead and maybe lay 6-8 eggs total (or more!) before she stops. I thought this whole thing was a fluke, but she is really going to town with the laying, and she's having about one a day ... go figure. Maybe she spent too much time with the chickens.

Now I'm thinking that with four already staggered over three days in the bator (sigh), I should start collecting and holding any new ones until I can batch them. I'm also worried about having them hatch during the middle of the week, because starting in January, I won't be home during the day to watch them. So I think I will batch them to hatch on the weekend (like who knows

, they'll hatch on their schedule, not mine

) but hoping I can be home so I can babysit.

And all this is assuming they are fertile and viable, which I won't know until I candle in a few days....

What do you think?

I would crack one open and see if it is fertile then i would eat the egg

I got Muscovy's laying and was fixen to advertise their eggs as i always do but when i got to check-en them none were fertile , got more than one hen laying in that nest and 16 eggs were not fertile
