Early February 2016 Hatch - Who's In?

Oh boy just about had a heart attack! I checked the temp earlier and it was perfect come back an hour later it was 106

Since there was no pips I pulled the eggs out to let them cool down and adjusted the temperature and threw a wet rag in to bring humidity back up. Once it lowered I put them back, I candled while I had them out, they were all alive thank God!! I hope it didn't have any ill affects!!

YIKES!!! Does your incubator not have an alarm? Mine does but with the humidity gauge messed up I had to turn it off.

now I'm checking them 3 times a day. Thank goodness I'm a stay at home mom.

No I wish! It's just a little giant, soon as I can afford it I'm getting a good one though! And good thing I'm a stay at home mom or those babies would have been cooked!

Ya that's makes it a little better! And they were alive when I candled, so I guess we'll see!

Update! I now have eight silkies from my feb2 hatch and 2 more pipped in that hatch. I was just sitting down to relax and heard chirping from my second incubator and two of my feb4 eggs in lockdown are pipped two days early!!!

Woot! You have some good activity, that's awesome!!

...um, its worth reminding others, however, that 2 days early is like a human being born 24 days premature. Not necessarily a goal. The species takes, on average, 21 days. Just an average, its true, but there is a lot of development happening in that 21 days. So if it is crammed, instead, into 19 days...something different happened. Maybe they lost weight faster than typically, maybe the temperature was higher than ideal, but whatever the reason, it shouldn't be a goal.

FWIW, I always give my chicks a stress-aid vitamin/electrolyte supplement in the water for the first week. Its especially useful with early and late hatchers, but I figure they can all use a little boost.
