Early February 2016 Hatch - Who's In?

Lots of fuzzy little yellow faces! With one oddball that's pretty darn cute him/herself.

Getting things ready... Can't wait!!!! I'll keep them in the small box until everyone is fluffed and drinking then move to the bigger one I built.

I know I know... Use a red bulb... Mine dropped (thanks kid)... So I will use the white for now.

My two mutt chicks that hatched last Thursday are already dust-bathing in the cup of dirt I put in their brooder. It is hilarious to watch

Hope this comes out good. This is picture of my last two rescue chicks. They survived a bad storm that killed their mamma but she pushed them as high as she could before the storm washed out her hidden nest. They were mud covered, cold and orphaned all on the day they hatched.

IMO, you only put chicks with issues in the box. Wide legged, on hock, that kinda chick, go in the Rubbermaid. Everyone else should immediately go on shavings.

And, fwiw, you put something in that Rubbermaid, and it hears anything outside, that's not going to be nice.
