Hi everyone, this little cutie survived a lot of things to get here, and hatched a day early in great shape- soooo happy!
My other three white silkies are three weeks old today, and just getting over pasty butt. I read somewhere on the forum about a wise person who's chicks never had pasty butt, but I can't find the post! She said she never fed the first day, just sugar water or was it vinegar water?, and introduced feed the second day. Is that all I need to do ( different?)
The chick(s) that hatch in this batch will be in a sterilized brooder, with a light, clean waterer, out of drafts, medicated chick feed tomorrow. Anything else I should do to prevent pasty butt?
Thanks so much! I am going to take a pic and post it right now.
