Hi!

I have a 1 month old Easter Egger than I'm wondering already if it may be a cockerel? Especially the "baby wattles", it's my first time that I have a chick growing them at that young age.

Also, I know for sure the hen (mother) is Ameraucana, but no idea for the father (just that it's a mix), I don't have photo of them. I wondered which breed/s could throw the barred feathering or a small mohawk (see his sibling on 2nd spoiler, from same parents) and fluffy legs.

Thank you :)

Mohawk and fluffy legs make me think of silkie! How many toes? Dark skin?
Cream leg bar could also give you the mohawk and barring. :)

Thank you ^_^

It has 4 toes on one feet and 5 toes on the other feet. Legs are black with yellow on the bottom and skin under the feathers seems pale/pink.

Sounds like some silkie blood in there:)
Thank you! I'm so curious to see them growing up!

Any idea if the early wattles on that one can hint toward being a cockerel or is it not really reliable hint to tell its gender?

The one that’s barred could be a male if it was a silkie over a barred rock. Definitely silky mixes. The age you can tell is about 6 weeks or more.

Indeed, I usually can tell their sex at 6-8 weeks, just wondered if the early wattles was a good sign to consider or not. I'll keep it longer and see how it evolves then ^_^

Thank you to you both!
