Ok, so I wasn't expecting my new chicks until today or tomorrow but I got a call from the Post Office saying if I wanted them yesterday I had to drive an hour each way to the distribution center in a large town to get my chicks. I could not stand the thought of them sitting in a warehouse/truck for 24 hours just so I could have them delivered so I hopped in the truck and made the 2 hour round trip.

I got my "free rare exotic chick" from McMurray but I have no clue as to what it is. It has fuzzy legs and I have never had one with fuzzy legs. This thing is also very aggressive with me. It will bite me every time I pick it up. I thought it was just pecking until it got ahold of the skin a couple times. I hate to stop picking it up but this little bugger is mean!

All of them seem healthy and happy so far but I would like to know what kind of vicious bird I am dealing with here!

Just kidding, any help identifying this fuzzy, little butt would be great.

Would a different angle for a pic be better? Top, other side, bottom?

I'd like to know what I'm dealing with but if I have to wait for a while that will be fine too.

Definitely looks like a cochin to me...my little guys look identical to it, besides the color difference...I think partridge too...but what do I know? LOL...You can see my babies at the same age on my BYC page...

My partridge babies were MUCH darker. He could be a Buff Brahma- my best friend's Brahama babies were brats too. He's a bit light for that, though- I'm betting on Partridge Cochin.

Well, this little bugger has a bit of pasty butt now too so when I am trying to clean it's little rear it really lets me have it!

It screams and bites and squirms. I don't think it is gonna like me much when this is all said and done........

I'm going with the partridge cochin too. I have one that's now 9 weeks old & it looked just like yours. He's now a charismatic, feisty lil roo!I also have buff Brahma & they look nothing like the pic you show, but they are mt first of this breed.

So I went to McMurray's site and pulled up the partridge cochins and sure enough there is a picture that looks just like what I have. Thanks so much for the information. I will post pictures when s/he gets bigger to see if you guys were right. I am looking forward to watching this little bugger grow!
