He’s now at 15 weeks old, and just begun to crow (or what sounds more like a confused hen trying to crow).
We bought him from a hatchery as a blue/black/splash Ameraucana sexed female, but I’m almost sure he’s male. I want so badly to be wrong.
Behavior has been more dominant than the others from the get go. The comb is already very pronounced and seems way more red than it should be at this age. I’ve seen a hint of iridescent green-blue feathers on the back of his head. These tail feathers seem more pointed and curled than they ought to be.
I’d love some of those beautiful eggs, could I possibly have a confused hen?
