Has anyone seen Easter egger fly in trees or top of roof? Because mine did tonight!!! And then my Braham followed her! They're BFFs
Yes. I was surprised at how well my EE can fly. They're mixes with the heavier SL Wayandottes but even that larger body size doesn't slow them down much, My coop is about 5 ft tall and they fly up on top of it with no problems. I build a fence along one side of their run that is about 7 feet at the highest point and I've seen my birds fly right up and roost at the top. Come spring I'm going to have to find another tactic to keep them out the the berry bushes that are on the other side of that fence since the fence obviously isn't tall enough! There is a 4 foot fence along another section of my property and they regularly fly back and forth over that.
My EE are in general pretty active birds. They forage most of the day and are use to running and flying around. They have friendly personalities. They come running and follow us around whenever we're outside. They happily take a treat right out of our hands and will tolerate petting. I can pick them up if I need too but they do tend to protest and shy away so I have to be quick about it or they'll run off. They see pretty mellow...not to flighty or easy to startle. They can act a bit scared of new things but also seem pretty curious so will usually investigate fairly quickly.
EE are mutts though so it's hard to say how consistent their personality traits are from one source to another,
