This year's troublemaker award goes to another EE.

I went to top off the feeder with a flashlight because we were leaving early the next morning and I didn't want to forget in the morning rush. This crazy chicken jumps down off the roost and heads out the open door.
Into the dark, dark night. :barnie

She should stop when she realizes it's dark and return, right? She doesn't. So, I am chasing this chicken with a flashlight because it's legit dark out there. I can't catch her, she's stupid fast. She tucks into a storage area where I can't possibly reach her.

I finally just opened the run gate, shined the flashlight on it, and startled her out of the hiding place. She recognized safety and went into the run. I followed and closed the gate thinking I could catch her by cornering. As if.

After several attempts and getting all scratched up, I tried just shining the light at the pop door and waiting. It took ages but she did eventually go in.

Instead of chasing them, I have learned to put a lantern in the coop and let them find their own way.

This is after doing just what you did many times over. In fact my 2 EEs broke out, between my legs, a few weeks ago in the morning. No hope of catching them. Little trouble makers.
