This year's troublemaker award goes to another EE.
I went to top off the feeder with a flashlight because we were leaving early the next morning and I didn't want to forget in the morning rush. This crazy chicken jumps down off the roost and heads out the open door.
Into the dark, dark night.
She should stop when she realizes it's dark and return, right? She doesn't. So, I am chasing this chicken with a flashlight because it's legit dark out there. I can't catch her, she's stupid fast. She tucks into a storage area where I can't possibly reach her.
I finally just opened the run gate, shined the flashlight on it, and startled her out of the hiding place. She recognized safety and went into the run. I followed and closed the gate thinking I could catch her by cornering. As if.
After several attempts and getting all scratched up, I tried just shining the light at the pop door and waiting. It took ages but she did eventually go in.
