Easter Egger club!

I got EE babies today! Of course they were labeled Ameracauna's HAHA, but we all know what they really are. Cut adorable fluff balls. I love how when they are little it's so hard to tell what color they will be as adults. Now my Peaches and Pickles and Cricket will have bearded buddies. They are supposed to be pullets, we shall see. (I know I have already posted these, but this is now my whole EE flock, even though pickles and cricket are half breeds.

And the new babies! (there are two duckling s in there also lol)

Are these hatched from the rooster and hen above, or did you buy these somewhere else?

Beautiful beautiful birds!

I love your rooster.

And, yeah, it is so much fun waiting to see what they turn into when they grow up.

I had a light chipmunk colored chick and a dark chocolate brown chick turn out exactly the same as adult roosters. (Very similar to your rooster actually)

And a solid blue chick and another dark chocolate brown chick turn out nearly exactly the same color as well.

With EE's you just never do.
^_^

I bought these as pullets. I wanted some that weren't related to mine. Pickles and Cricket's dad is my silver laced wyandotte so they are half EE. They are almost six months old, so still babies yet. Cricket is going through the terrible stage. His dad did too and is now very sweet and respectful with some work. So cricket gets lessons in respect everyday lol. When these girls grow up I may use him for breeding but I have no idea what he would throw coming from slw and a splash EE momma. He is a mystery.

I just got some EE's and golden laced wyandottes. I think the one Wyandotte is a rooster so I am not sure if I should hatch some out from him if it is a roo when they get older or not.

They make a pretty mix. I got blue laced chicks because their momma is splash. It was a fun surprise. We have two more of those hatching monday. I hope they are blue laced again. Their dad...

yea I saw your pics of them. They do look pretty! I don't know yet because I have a Salmon Faverolle that I think is a male because it has black in the wings already. So I will have to decide if I would want to keep the Wyandotte or the Faverolle. It depends which one is nicer to the hens though. I'm guessing if I cross the Wyandotte with an EE, I would get an olive color egg?

Im not sure about the eggs. I have 3 big boys inmy flock. They all do fine together. You could keep both.

I have 11 mature roosters as it stands right now, and I've only had to isolate one of them--not because he was mean to the other roosters, but because the other roosters suddenly started being mean to him. It worked out ok for the roo who was being bullied, though, because he now lives in a private suite with a harem of lovely ladies all to himself! lol

I know, but I have one right now and I don't want to have to feed more then what I really need though. I'll just have to see if they both turn out to be roosters or not. I hope at least one of them are because I need one for next year.

Was out shoveling yet MORE snow to suddenly hear a strident egg song come racketing through the air. I had already gotten my Black Australorp's egg earlier, and noticed that my youngest girl, an EE named Salem, was poking around in the nest boxes. She hadn't crouched for me yet but was getting a bit more red in the face. Much to my surprise, I find a large pinkish white dotted egg in the nest, with Salem standing in the coop door going "BA-GAWK!" over and over. It's the same shape as my Buff Orphington's egg, although a bit darker and different textured, so I'm hoping that she just got set off by the other hens and will start laying soon. I weighed the egg and it was 60 grams, so if it WAS hers, YIKES.
