Easter Egger club!

What do green legs mean???
It means you have a bird with Yellow Legs and Darkening genes which = green/willow

White legs are dominant over yellow: So your bird has recessive yellow skin with genes that darken the legs, if your bird had the white gene plus the darkening gene it would have slate legs.

There is some sex linking invoved when pure leg colors are crossed... in theory if you where 100% about a roo's genetics and a hens and you used the right combo you could tell the sex based on leg color.

Means zip as far as egg color though. I hope the threads help explain better.

My EE has a little mound just below her nostrils. I thought it was part of her comb but she keeps bumping it on things and making it bleed. I have cleaned and put some antiseptic on it but I guess I'm wondering if it should be there??

I just saw this. Is it better now? I'm no expert and don't have an opinion, but if you post a photo in the health/injury section (or here, too) maybe someone with more expertise can help.

What personalities do your EEs have? I was expecting mine to be kind of laid back, but the two EEs are both less amenable about being handled than the other two chicks. The one I threatened to call "Godzilla" may actually have a name -- my husband is calling her that now! She's the ringleader, and the one that has taken to flying to the top of the brooder box and trying to escape. The other is, I think, going to be quite pretty. She's not as pushy with the other chicks, but she's also relatively flighty, and really hates to be picked up. The BR I can just reach in and give scritches to.

Are flighty EEs fairly common, or is it just that they run the range of everything that might have been in the cross? I realize any one chick of any breed may be anywhere on that scale, and that four chicks is exceedingly small number statistics, but the fact that the two EEs are so different from the other two makes me wonder if the cross totally washes out the mellow reputation Ameraucana have.

I have 14 ee's, about half are skiddish and don't care to be held much. The other half run to me and like attention. Funny, the one I think is a roo is one of the skiddish ones.

My EE bunch of 15 are close to the half and half of oh there's Mom let me see what she has, while the rest are for the duck and cover mentality.

moshpt if my all six EE will come up to me in have two that will run from me they make me laugh lol and I have one speacil needs chick her name is Dizzy and she let's me hold her.

Quoted from cottagegarden;
Most people have Easter Eggers because they are easier to come by than purebred Ameraucanas. Green legs is always an indication of an Easter Egger because purebred Ameraucanas have white skin not yellow and thier legs are slate. Easter Egger roosters are some of the most beautiful you will ever see because they can be so colorful, they can also be some of the nicest.
My dork is a tool. I have an EE Rooster named Reeses and he takes great pleasure in attacking me. lol Just lost a chunk of meat from my leg from the feather butt. However, he's a handsome one. The EE girls are sweet and loving and adorable.

Reeses

Rolo

Ok I'm in love. Anyone had chicks that look like any of my three? What did they turn out like?
They look like my Reeses and Rolo:

Rolo..she looked like yours on the right but more brown..

And Reeses looked a lot like yours on the right almost exactly, but he lied. lol

Just to give you a heads up, he will always try to attack you or any human. The best thing to do is to sell/give him away or send him to the freezer. It makes collecting eggs difficult as well as feeding them.
