Thank you! Ameraucanas and Araucanas existed before there were recognized breed standards in 1979.
I'm not going to get into a debate with you RoosterLew. Believe what you want to believe.
That's just the point, it is not what I believe...it what is fact. The link you provided tells you when and where the name "Ameraucana" came from.
If you actually research it...read the articles...you'll find the correct information instead of mis-information.
In 1948 the Palm Beach Post did an article on Ward Brower's "Easter Egg Chickens", in September 1948 the National Geographic did a story on his Easter Eggers....
Yes. he had 3 birds shipped from Chili that he even said were not pure "Araucanas" as they looked more like Rhode Island reds, and didn't lay blue eggs...The post said they laid brown and the National Geographic said they Laid white.....
Any way....I too will quit arguing and end with this....
Easter Egger is historically a term that describes a chicken that lays eggs of colors other than brown or white. Just like chickens are grouped as "Brown Egg Layers" or "White Egg Layers" , "Easter Eggers" are a group.
SO when someone says "Easter Eggers" come from Araucanas and Ameraucanas...they are not wrong...but they are not right either.
SO I guess we agree to disagree...you keep your thoughts and opinions...I'll be happy with my facts.
For now, I have to go check on my Splash Wheaten Ameraucana Cock that's with my EE hen making more EE's....but Splash Wheaten isn't a recognized variety, so I guess he is just an EE to.....then I'm joining the ABC if they'll have me!
I do sincerely hope everyone enjoys their Chickens as much as I do....even if they are ugly old Araucanas!
