Easter Egger club!

here are my white and black EE pullets at 6 months old. Legs are nice slate color, one lays a blue green egg.

My mixed chicks from a Bantam Wheaten Ameraucana Roo and a Mille Flora d'Uccle are two weeks old now.
They have some leg feathering like the MF but I see green coming into legs. I think they will have pea combs.
Wish I had taken more pics of the roo and MF when they were little to compare with.
Seems like the MF showed a little single comb at 2 weeks but not sure I remember correctly.

Will be interesting to watch them change, someone on a FB group commented that the mixed birds were usually ugly. . . .

Awwww adorable!

You tell Tuesday & Wednesday to ignore rude ole facebook, as they are totally adorable & i think their mix will be gorgeous! Some very pretty chickens I've seen were mixed breeds. Sure, it's nice to see a solid representation of what a 'pure breed' should look like, but I think it's so much fun watching the different traits combine into awesome chickens, too. I love the element of surprise :). I hope you keep posting pics as they grow.

I thought that is was time for some updated EE/OE pictures.
This is Lacey; a EE/Sussex project. She's about a 15 to 17 months old.

This is Bunny; she looks like a 50/50 bar, orange and white. She was the first EE for us. I think she is around 20 to 24 mos old.

This is OE #1, that we got from Krista. Still waiting for that 1st egg...

This is OE #2. We got her from Carrie. Still waiting for her 1st egg...

Does everyone have EE's that will stop laying for weeks at a time?

Not really, either mine are molting or old age and just stop laying.

Well with my big flock of three I have had them stop laying for awhile and then start back up. Usually there is a reason and in my case it was after the neighbors dog got hold of a couple. Pulling feathers out of one and playing tug of war with my dog on one. The third hen could not be found for several hours but finally came out. I stopped the tug of war before anything drastic happened and did not lose any, I was just lucky.
It was a couple of days before my EE's started laying and almost two weeks on the BO who was the victim of the tug of war. The BO never acted herself after that always wanting to stay at my feet but not wanting to be touched.

My phones not uploading pictures but I have a barnyard mix that looks like a barred rock with puffy cheeks. I'm still waiting to see if I get an egg or a crow. Too fun

After 24 looooong weeks of waiting, I finally got a non-brown egg today. My EE, Loca Loca Loca, laid her first egg! It was decent sized for her first, so I was impressed regardless of the color. As you can see, my brown eggs are getting a little monotonous.

The other eggs: Center - Speckled Sussex pullet egg
Clockwise: EE, Amber link pullet, Rhodebar, Barred Rock, Red sexlink, RIR pullet, red sexlink pullet,
