Easter Egger club!

One of my ees finally laid. It was a light green egg, I was hoping for a bluer one. I have one more ee to start laying any day now and a few more months before two other ones start.

How many EE's do you have? They are like a Cracker Jack box with a prize at the bottom. You never know what you are going to get. I have two that lay blue, one pink, and three green out of 6 hens. The most common will be light green. So, I wish you luck in getting the spectrum of egg colors. When the kids get them hard boiled, it looks like someone really did have Easter early.

Hi all! New here. Planning my first flock. (Hopefully in the near future) I am super intrigued by the Easter eggers. But I'd like to be able to keep a sustainable flock with future generations. My question is this, will an Easter egger cockerel successfully breed with Easter egger hens and bear fertile eggs that would hatch out? Thanks for any help given on this conundrum.

yes, easter eggers are just regular chickens the only difference is egg color so there should be no problem in reproduction.

I have 2 grown hens that have started laying and one juvenile. and one mystery mixed juvie that im pretty sure it's not gonna have the blue egg genes. i would be lucky if it's an olive egger.

Thanks so much FVRM! You've been a great help in my decision making!

thanks Kathy for the chit chat...hope everything goes well with hawk....here is some pics

see what I mean with the eye lids.....she does open them very quick to see whats going on but then shuts them immediately and then the head starts to go down...she is warm to the tough....(next to the fireplace helps)....and she was just fine just today she just went boom im sick...hope the pics help...

well I took her out of the small cage and she started walking around clucking...then I caught her and gave her about 25ml of a warm sugar solution...here are some pics

this is her poo forget the dirty carpet

I don't see any worms in it...it was greenish and white...liquidy.....I did try and feed her some feed by putting some in my hand and then placing it by her mouth and she opened and closed her mouth...I also did this with the sugar solution and got some in her mouth she raised her head and swallowed....but I will redo and post some pics now that I am used to doing this...its really not that hard...to tube feed...just gotta take your time...make sure there is no resistance...and make sure the neck is extended so It can go down with ease..she is resting now....

I have had 40-50 chickens for the last three years....they get butchered at about year to year and a half...I always seem to just loose two chickens every winter..and they seem fine weight wise...but just drop and I find them in the morning...this girl was just standing out in the cold while the others were walking around...she actually came up to me so I picked her up and brought her into the house and put her by the warm fireplace.....she just kinda nods off...any help on what it could be...she was on her last day of worming with safeguard...I put the safeguard in the water for all the birds to drink...I did find roundworms in the poop from one of the 40 chickens....after day one...hope this helps

I have EE'S that the color varies at different times between blue & green. This Winter their eggs have even been closer to olive color.

Hi all! Well I have two EE's. One with a brown head and muff, one with a black head and no muff. They were hatched around the first week in may, I got them from the feed store. One started laying in October (Silly Goose with the brown head), then stopped a few weeks ago, the other the black headed one (baby) just started laying a few days ago. Baby does not have the fluffy face, she reminds me of a black headed bald eagle. Do others have EE's without the fuzzy face? [/quote Your EE's are gorgeous! I have an EE named Rose, that has no beard or muffs. I just hatched 2 pullets from her 1 is bearded & muffed & the other one isn't. I don't care that they don't have beards/muffs, I love them & think they're beautiful.
