My Easter Egger, Cyndi, is the one that started laying. Checked the camera and she was in and out of the nest box all day. She ended up laying it under the roost.

Here she is at 26 weeks.

All of my Easter Eggers are almost 31 weeks now. Waiting on these two to start laying. (Pictures are at 26 weeks)

This is Yzma. My daughter is 7 months pregnant and they have outgrown their home, so she temporarily decided to not have chickens. As a result, she also decided to build me a coop and give me three of her birds. Yzma was her favorite and now I have her. She is so sweet. Never runs from me, follows me around, talks a lot, and is gentle and smart. She also lays almost every day! I love my easter egger!!

We have EE, now full grown. It is obvious now that there grown which ones are female but are there sure fire ways to tell male from female?

If it crows it is a rooster and if it lays a egg it is a hen .

OK seriously . The comb on males gets redder earlier , males tails are shorter as chicks and black in the breast on striped chicks .

But not every male 'striped' chick will get black in the chest. It's just that females will never have a solid black chest. Every red/gold base color male will get dark 'rooster' red on the shoulders/wings, though, and most silver males get it too.

I had a hen crowing over the summer.
One of my game birds. Big boss lady was strutten her stuff, only lasted about 3 or 4 days tho.
