Hello! My wife insisted I order a few EE from the hatchery when we expanded our flock. I ordered 3, got 4. These are our first EE. I was wondering if we may have a rooster. Do EE Roos develop wattles early? We have a BA roo at 3 1/2 weeks his wattles are bright red and really starting to show. The 4 EE have no wattles showing.

Yes. The gene that causes the beard and muffs prevents wattle development. Even some clean faced Easter Eggers don't get wattles.
Like my girl Snowy.

Update: three chicks hatched now, and the blue one is my Easter egger... I'm so excited!

Some do and others do not. Several of my original EE developed the beard and muffs quite late, they had just started laying when the beard and muffs started coming in. Now they are very full. I suspect that may be the case with some of these. Cock came out of blue egg and some of these came out of blue egg, others light brown. I think it will be a mix of egg colors, possibly from true blue, green to light browns. Time will tell!!

It was hard for me to see in your photo - do your bantams have the fluffy muffed cheeks? Share their egg colors when they start to lay!
