Easter Egger club!

you will be able to pick them up easily.
They are easy to pick up once I've cornered them or they are in a position where I can grab them. They will also "perch" when they are up on the coop. (I have a galah, I just tend to automatically do that, stick my hand out. It is only the running away that they do. (if you consider it from their position, it makes sense, they are being chased, they run away. They don't know it's because you want to give them "stuff" or put them in their house. As you say, one day they (hopefully) will know that. (Also, the yard they are in isn't set up well for catching chooks, they can run behind the coop, but I can't....

Well, frankly, I think you are doing splendidly ( as I think I have mentioned on another thread ) .... At least everything is perching or roosting, and you ARE able to pick them up - at times.

Guess how long it took my big girls to learn to roost ?........... 2 YEARS. !!!

.... And now they are back to cuddling up in the nesting box which has never been used as a nesting box - only a nice sleepy bed. !!!

They lay eggs on straw in front of the nesting box. Everyone here knows the stories. Mindy Araucana ( the lone chook ) perches every night without fail, on a towel covered brick. ?? That's what she likes, that's what she gets. I change the towelling and wash it, ready for the next change. She poops all night, the most exquisite of chicken woopsies. Best garden fertiliser imaginable.

My chooks are weird !!!
