This is so true that there are some birds that are just naturally jumpy and there is nothing you can do about it as I have one pullet that is getting jumpy but when I removed her from the pullet or grow out coop the rest of the flock was calm and yes they are Ten Easter Eggers and three Molten Houdan's and the goofy EE pullet will Tuesday as The buyer agreed to pick her up and pay $ 15. dollars for her so it turned out win win for everyone ....

So sometimes it really only takes one to make the entire flock a bit flighty ..

I wish it was only one when it's actually 4 that fly off and bounce against the walls or fence. Silly girls. Currently working with guinea keets and australorp chicks, should be comfy enough to me in my lap later this week.

I'm trying to figure out the personality of the EE's. I really want a sweet, cuddly chicken that lays pretty eggs. But it really needs to be quiet since I live in a subdivision. Half of what I've read says they meet my description, and the other half makes them sound like the exact opposite. Would ameraucana be better for what I want?

Individuals of any breed can be noisy. I've had hens who barely cluck, but come egg laying time, they start singing their heads off. Others cluck and squawk all day long, but never sing after laying. It's more an individual thing than a breed thing.
Easter Eggers aren't exactly a breed, but a type of chicken. They haven't been bred for specific features, so there is a huge range in personalities, sizes, and colors.
With a true Ameraucana, at least you can have a general idea of what to expect.

oh yes you want a mostl quiet chicken then the EE is the right one. I will put a video of her I did have 2 but sunshine got carried off by a eagle. yes I do not know if different EEs will have different personalities.

Some Easter Eggers are mixes from Ameraucanas, so will most likely have the same disposition. I absolutely love my Ameraucana personalities, but when I mix two different colors, I get an Easter Egger because it doesn't fit the SOP for the Ameraucana. So that would be the reason some EE's have that type of personality. Other Easter Eggers might have different breeds in them, which would contribute to their personalities.

I know mine are very young but they have all different types of personalities! Molly loves people, is very quiet, sticks to herself. Penelope is very vocal and one of the more skittish ones, but once being held she doesn't want to be put down. Daisy is the one in charge, she always means business and is less fearful. Octavia and Penny pretty much just follow everyone else around. All of my girls let me handle them, we sit around and "play".
To answer someone's question earlier, the pictures from the grass, it wasn't very warm out, maybe 70, and we were pretty much outside for 10-15 minutes or so.

Just one Easter Egger, her name is Geraldine, and she lays large, beautiful eggs. Definitely the top of the pecking order, she loudly "scolds" the cat whenever he comes around. She's headstrong, bossy, and lays nearly every day. Love her!
