If the hen is willing, I've seen it happen as early as 5 months. I had a 7 month old rooster that died protecting the girls even though the girls didn't accept him as a lover. I just threw out two dozen eggs that I was incubating to see if he had succeeded in wooing the hens, and they were infertile. I have a few eggs that probably finished up the sperm from the previous roos or he had one or two accept his mating, so I have a dozen of the last fertile blue eggs going.

If you are wanting to guarantee roo A's presence is no with your hens, they say to wait a month before introducing roo B. I wasn't going to incubate anymore this year but when my roo died, I thought I would try and see if he got lucky.

My EE roo just started trying to get lucky with the pullets last week. That would make him 15 weeks. The problem is that the pullets are not laying yet and are not very receptive to his advances. There is one pullet that is laying and I've seen him successful with her. The others gang up on him and chase him off. I depends on the dynamics of the flock.

My chicks are 16 weeks and I have 3Roos only one crows as of right now, so I thought maybe he might be " getting ready to do the deed" lol

I'm not sure about the crowing and how it relates to breeding. My current cockerel has been crowing since June and just started to breed. I had two babies that I got as week olds. One was crowing at 5 weeks (he was an easter egger). I never saw him trying to breed. He turned out to be very aggressive so we rehomed him to someone with older hens. The other cockerel was a Barred Rock. He didn't crow much, but started around 7 or 8 weeks. He was a sweet boy and I never saw him fight or breed with any of the pullets while we had him.
