Easter Egger club!

Black hen blue and black and splash chicks.
Gold hen will be mostly gold and blue chicks.
Gold hen on bottom gold with black and blue and with some splash mixed in.

Kenzier093 Your rooster seems to be a splash version of the so called partridge EE . In which case all his chicks will inherit 1 copy of blue .
You will see blue in the normally black areas . No black and splash only if a hen has blue. It is hard to tell from pictures if any of the hens have blue . Show pics when you get chicks so we can all learn .

We'll I have an update on my standardized EE project.
1:I have noticed that some of my hens growing up r turning out pretty small and some are huge so I have some work to do there.
2: I am going to look for a big standard size roo to use in my project dec.11 at a nearby auction.
3: I have 2 EE hens that are as big as there mom and she is big, and they aren't even laying yet.
4: I think I have a rare red EE.

My Easter Eggers are 8 weeks old now and preparing for the big move from the garage to the great outdoors this weekend. Ari is by far the most vocal of my 4 chicks. I caught her with her mouth open the last couple of weeks. Ali looks like she's always angry but she's a sweetie.

I like watching these ladies grow up!

ok I don't have pictures on this computer but I will post one soon... I have 3 Easter Eggers named Bunny, Bunny and Bunny because I couldn't tell them apart when they were small...one Andalusian and one Old English Game Bantam

My Andalusian started laying on Nov 7th and I'm guessing lays 6 out of 7 days each week... one Bunny started laying on the 15th and has only laid one other egg since

how often do EE's lay? and is a slow start(at least from what I kind of expected) a common thing?

my flock is energetic and active so I don't think anyone is ill... I am also in Southern Cal so the weather has been 50's-60's at night and 60's-80's in the daytime recently just in case weather matters

Bunny, Bunny & Bunny! Love it!

I have 2 EE pullets. One started laying tiny blue eggs about 5 a week consistently at 23 weeks.
The other started laying huge, soft shelled, pinkish eggs at about 22 weeks but was very irregular. The eggs broke most of the time and were eaten by the others. She just recently started laying pullet sized, nice, hard shelled, light brown/pink eggs (she's about 7 months old now). She probably lays 4 or 5 a week.

I'm in so cal, too. My EE is 28 weeks old and shows no sign of laying any time soon. Sigh.
