Easter Egger club!

I saw what I thought was hackles on the frontal picture, so I thought with the comb it would be a boy, BUT I am not willing to bet any money on it. I am never that sure on pictures of young ones.

Only Females are salmon?

Yes a salmon breast is female only . Matching male is black breasted . The comb and hackles had me wondering but the breast was the clincher .

I just put 17 eggs in the incubator tonight from 3 of my EE girls! :) March 12th needs to come fast so I can meet the lil fluff balls! ;)

Also the last one is wheaten female coloring . Appears to have silver also . So kind of a silver wheaten female .

Awesome info thanks sooo much! I've been doing lots of research on genetics and chicken colors and I did not know about the salmon breasted but had heard about the black, so concensus is all female... Likely? With this info the one with the comb 'Edith' is a hen which makes sense though her comb is pretty impressive and gets bigger almost daily so I'm not so sure where she's getting that from. Makes the light one female I think too then which I will be very glad of as her disposition is excellent and she will have great chicks. At that rate its the blank one and the black/gold one, the black one is mean and the other one will come over to be petted, curious if anyone has had any perticularly bossy EEs and what gender?

Lovely chicks, chickens and June bugs everyone! I am waiting for spring to get here before I let a few of my girls to hatch out some chicks. It worries me to try it now with the Ohio weather being below zero.

Yes we've been below zero as well. I have had chicks hatching since Christmas in a incubator. They have all did well in the brooder coop. My last batch just went in Tuesday. Those little fuzzy butts are pretty resilient.

I briefly updated my article on Easter Eggers, etc, if anyone wants to check it out:

Same here. I lost my Easter Egger X Rhode Island red eggs to the cold. I had them under a broody hen, and it was so cold, that the eggs chilled in the 15 minutes she got off to eat and drink.

Thank you Mymilliefleur for making time to update this and posting the link. We have EE's but being so new to this whole chicken life we thought they were ameraucanas since they came to us from a hatchery as such. Nevertheless, I love my muttskies oodles and they bring me such joy!
