Easter Egger club!

Thanks. Steering clear of red chooks from now on

You won't be sorry! LOL
I've had Rhode Island Red and New Hampshire Red, and my friend had Red Sexlink and by themselves these breeds are ok and most certainly are good layers but in flocks with other breeds they can be meanies! Recently I haven't been too keen on the Buff varieties either but that's just me.
Might be coincidence but it seems the broodier a breed is known, the less aggressive they tend to be - my broody breeds have been less combative than non-broody egg layer types. Speaking generalities here as there can always be an oddball exception to the norm.

My red ones can be mean, and some of the black ones are even meaner, one of the white ones is super mean, and the blues are CRAZY!

Sure, there are some breeds that are more docile or more aggressive, but you really can't put a label on them all.

Genetics question here.

I have a mixed group of EE bantams and recently got some Wheaten Ameraucana Bantams that are old enough that they are known to breed true.

I also have a White Ameraucana hen. At 2 years she is still white as snow with no bleed thru of any color. I read a little on genetics and when it got to a certain point, I was lost. If I did understand somewhat, I think she may be recessive white rather than dominant white.

She is in with the Wheaten cock. I know the offspring will be EE since they will not breed true, but I am curious what to expect from those two. Waiting for a hatch and feather out is such a nail biter!

Jerry, I know you helped develop the Ameraucana breed. What do you think?

Bantam whites are often black under the white . So the first generation cross will show the influence of whatever color is under the recessive white . If it is black under the white the chicks will have a lot of black .

She's our only EE, we were told when we bought her as a hatchling from a local feed store here in Pahrump that she was an Americauna....they lied, but we love her and she's super sweet!

I know my slw and glw plus my 2 EE are just sweat birds they don't fight echather and they never have bothered me they will all follow me around the property at times I can really Handel them they don't like too be picked up but that's ok by me

My reds were incredibly mean to the newbies but have been knocked down in the pecking order now that the Brahmas have got big and stepped up.
