Easter Egger club!

My 'head rooster' is an Easter Egger. I absolutely adore his fluffy face. He's usually the sweetest rooster, and even tolerates other new roosters really well, but he rules with an iron fist in the coop. He comes running to greet me when I pull into the driveway, and follows me around all over.
Meet Logan.

I have every intention to raise little Logan EE crosses with my BR and Orpington hens for future stock. I might try a few at market and see how that goes. I have a BR/Jersey Giant roo that I plan on crossing to my BR girls, and those will probably do better at market. But personally, for my own mutt-stock, I think the EE's are adorable.

I feel like I've been all over the place trying to decide whether to do purebred birds or crosses. I ended up with Logan as a favor to my parents, because he started getting after my nephew (who's over there a lot). (Nephew spooked him pretty badly once, and apparently he holds a grudge). I also took in my other roo as a favor to a friend. So, I ended up with two mutt roos. I like Logan too much to cull him, and he's 2 years old. So mutt-birds it is!

Well we just broke Ember's biggest egg into the pan.
DOUBLE YOLKER!!!

Just hatched a new EE chick! Well, EE mix. Logan is the EE, mama is a little rescued game hen.
The husband just sent me a photo. :)
Too bad the roosters are all jerks and trying to get after the little thing. Time to focus on fixing that issue. *sigh.

@mamatink7 thank you! Her new nickname is ostrich. She lays the biggest green eggs!

For that reason she is becoming one of my personal favorites

But then again, I think it's wrong to pick favorites

Well I found out how to scare the crap out of my 2 yr old EE Fester. My avi pic, the boss of my first coop and brave feller with most things until now. I pulled weeds yesterday and placed the grass and dandelions in my bushel basket, yes I am behind on weeding. Carry it to Stumpys run and Fester freaked completely out seeing the basket! I did not swing it or do anything threatening with it. I slowly walked in Stumpys run, set it down emptied half and off he went totally crazy freaked out rooster that got his girls panicked which started the guineas to go on alert. So ok,walk around go in Fester's run, cradle basket to me more, slowly put it down and he tried climbing the run fence! Hens going everywhere, feathers flying and I am in the middle of it. Left the grass got out put offending basket out of sight and he calmed down. Talk about crazy! He hasn't done anything like this in a long time. Yeah he doesn't see it often but dang that was too much!
