Easter Egger club!

I would do both but large for sure. We only had one EE chick survive. Luckily Hedwig didn't get any of the chicks feed. As soon as everyone started getting sick I locked her in my bedroom. We love how sweet they are.

I love all the EE color variety I see out of Cackle Hatchery if you want to do mail order. They have lots of colors and all the ones I've seen have full beards/muffs, pea combs and slate legs.

I'm so sorry you've had such a loss! :( that's terrible.

So are you thinking these are all pullets then? Walnut is the only one developing a comb at this point. They are 6 weeks..

By 8 weeks the cockerels combs will be deeper pink/red while the females will be very pastel pinkish white. My avatar picture is of a pullet about 41/2 months and still has a very pale comb.

I lost two of my 7 week old EEs tonight along with 20 other babies. We think we got a bad bag of feed. Botulism is the only thing that makes sense. My daughter is a mess (me too) and I'd like to get her some more. Any tips on where to get them? We got ours from Meyers but I'd like to find some with different colors. Thanks.

So sorry for your losses. I would go to where you got your feed and tell them you bought a bag of feed that killed all your chickens. Some feed stores spray for bugs and it might have gotten in your feed. I would talk to them and see if they would help you get more babys. Again sorry for your losses.

I ordered 7 from cackle and they were all different down patterns. They sent a very nice assortment. I also have some that I got from the bin at Tractor Supply, and they had a decent assortment of down patterns though so far they look like they are feathering quite similarly. The poultry hatchery is 3 hours from you in Clifton Springs NY and they sell a good variety of chicks, by mail or you could take a trip out there and pick them up .

the weather is finally getting warmer! Just went to tractor supply and got 11 new EEs!

The second pic makes me think of Alfred Hitchcock or Winston Churchill. Especially with the black marking looking like a bald guys hair line.
