Easter Egger club!

 She's so beautiful!! :love

Her coloring reminds me a lot of silver duckwing. The silver gene is for sure the basis for her coloring, but I bet her father (or one of her parents) wasn't an EE or ameraucana. She has a very game-like head - silver is a pretty common color for games, and they do lay white eggs.... Could be half game. (Gosh I love guessing EE heratige XD)

Oh she ought to be laying sooner than a couple months if she's already 17 weeks. Keep an eye on her comb - when it starts to get bigger, its a sign that she's getting closer to laying age. ;)
I've gotten all of my EEs from the same micro hatchery and they've all been just a bit off the beaten path in appearance. I'm not sure what they're doing behind the scenes but mixed ear color and cushion combs are pretty common there. I haven't gotten any without a blue shell gene yet so whatever they're doing is working for me. This pullet just struck me as uncommonly odd and I've been rather amused watching her grow. She's literally as big as my fully grown splash Marans hen now. :hmm Her comb is getting puffier but it's not as brightly colored as her "sister" EE's (that one looks like a Leghorn-based hybrid layer except for the perfect little pea comb, giant beard, and lime green legs).

Cooooool. :D She is really gorgeous. :love
Hatcheries are so weird and cool and somtimes annoying all at once. XD I've gotten all my EEs from the same hatchery, and this year we got two that looked almost EXACTLY like two that I've had in the past. :th Now I have a backup if something happens to Reese's. XD

I keep thinking that will happen one of these times but it hasn't yet. The diversity is astonishing.

Help me out EE owners... Roo or hen??? I'm thinking roo, but praying hen. The name is Munk, and I swear his/her black feathers have a purple sheen when in the sun!
