Mine were shipped straight from Ideal. I figured I'd have at least 30% sexing failures, and ordered accordingly. The only ones I can be sure about are the red sex links.
I'm considering making a rooster collar and keeping one roo, if the collar works. Never tried one before, but I understand that if you stay on top of it and fit it properly, the crow is not as loud as a dog bark and not easily identifiable as a rooster crow by the average suburbanite.
HE has warmed up to the birds, and he's especially liking the idea that they pay rent. He loves eggs and chicken breasts, while I like eggs and dark meat. As long as they stay healthy and productive, I think we will be keeping at least 10-20 layers. He's even asked me about meat birds!i told him to build me a chicken plucker and I'd consider meat birds.
