easter egger egg price

This info is still good to know -regardless of antiquity and I appreciate it still being accessible to me!

I agree, I was just pointing out the date, as sometimes old threads get revived and folks begin replying and asking follow up questions to users that aren't on the site any longer, etc.

I've done this in the past as well, and just started a new thread once I noticed it, but you're welcome to post to this one or create a new one, it's not a big deal either way.

BTW, welcome to the BYC!

Wow! So, the male carries the dominant colour genes?
It's about the 1 or 2 blue shell genes that are possibly present(only takes 1 to make blue eggs), they are dominant but it can be a crap shoot whether 1 gets passed down when crossing EE's.

Also, if you’re only supposed to breed purebreds, then how do we end up with so many “purebreds” that come from other breeds?? The EE is a PRIME example of that scenario.
EE is not a 'pure breed', it's a cross.
There are probably more crosses, either intentional or unintentional, out there than pure breeds.

Doesn’t something go really wrong when you breed 2 cross breeds?
'Really wrong' is variable, you won't end up with deformed offspring(if that's what you mean)....but you might not end up with the egg color and/or feather color and/or other attribute that you wanted.
