Easter Egger hot??

OMG that's too funny because I'm in the same boat!! My husband says the same thing!! But luckily he's so good and he accommodates me!! He even made the girls a little tiki hut to get in for protection from any aerial predators!! It's SO cute!! AND he fenced off a section in our backyard so they can be safe there rather than free range the entire yard and maybe get into something poisonous or God knows what!! I LOVE these two girls SO much!! Who would have thought I'd EVER have two chickens as pets!! Where are you located? We're in Riverview, Florida.

My EEs all seem to really struggle with the heat. I give them watermelon whenever I can, and freeze large blocks of ice (filling gallon jugs works well) to put in the run. They gather around the ice and dig into the dirt around the blocks of ice. I also put ice in their waterer. They didn't seem to mind the bitter cold this winter at all, so I think EEs must be better suited to colder temperatures overall.

I've also been giving them melon and putting ice in their water!! I am going to try freezing some milk gallon jugs filled with water now TOO!! Great idea!! Thank you!!

Several people here have told me they do?? They don't "play" in water per say, but they tell me they love to stand or sit in it to cool off. SO, I'm going to first put a big plastic container that we have out there to see what they do..it's only big enough for one at a time.. IF they get in it, I will buy them a hard plastic kiddie pool I saw at Kmart for just $14.99!! It's even pink!! It's adorable!! Lol
