Easter Egger not laying yet at 28 weeks

Well, may just be her. I have a 12+ yr old EE hen who did not lay until 40 weeks old. Her first eggs were humongous from the start and she laid up until she was 11 years old then, with every egg, she would prolapse, but my point is that she delayed maturity and it served her (and me) well.
Sweet girl. She is adorable. I don’t care if she ever lays an egg. She hangs with every sick chicken, keeps me company and is so nice to all other chicks. Worth it!!

Be patient. Some hens wait until 8 or 9 months to lay that first egg... in fact, most of my heritage hens of any breed are around 6-8 months before they lay their first egg. I think you just got lucky with the other laying so early :) Beautiful girl, she’ll be worth the wait, I’m sure!

I got two EE chicks last year. One started laying at about 6 months but I was disappointed because her eggs are brown (but very large).
The other one I assumed was a “dud” because she never started laying...until after winter at about 9-10 months and hers are blue and just as big!
