nice brooder!

Smokey the "baby" of the bunch. FInally caught up with rest.

Goldy Pretty sure this will be a roo. However still hasn't developed Pointed hackle feathers. Will rename Heinlein if it is.

This one is definitely a roo. Saw it and GOldy facing off. Plus definite Pointed hackle feathers. Naming this one Drake after David Drake the author.

Wow! Mine will are 5 weeks old today! They've grown quite a bit yet still trying to figure out color patterns as well as sex.

I'm thinking 3 Roosters out of the bunch but Godly has me perplexed. No pointed hackle feathers at all. Yet sits on the top of water jug in Brooder all the time which would make it the dominant chick in the pecking order. Also Drake and Goldy have squared off while I was watching making me think Rooster. Are there any EE's with Sebrights Hen feathering on the Roosters?

We got our first hens almost three weeks ago and we're excited to find EE's. The kids picked 2 Easter Eggers, 1 Buff Orpington, and 1 Barred Rock. They're just so cute! It's hard to believe how much they've grown in such a short time!

Okay lemme think..... Smokey is the most obvious rooster I saw out of the bunch. Silver coloring + BIIIIIIIG comb.

Chick 1 has lots of black..... A big sign of rooster for an EE. But "it" still looks pretty small, so we can hope, am I right?
Chick 2 also has the coloring for a rooster. Silver usually means cockerel. And they have the fine striping that is really common for silver EE boys.

Chick 3 definite hen

Chick 4 is a definite boy

Smokey is a definite roo

I'd say Goldy is a hen, but..... :idunno

Chick 6, really go either way

Chick 7, most likely roo

And yeah, Drake has TONS of black. Definitely rooster.

A thing I've noticed about cockerels - they tend to feather in more raggedy than pullets. I have 5 suspects in thee brooder right now, one of which is for sure, and his feathers are crazy all overtha place right now XD

Osteeberg, so cute!! Spring is my favorite season just because of all the babies that are born - especially the chickens :love

Ok I have three EE's that are straight run and all of them are grey black in color. One may have some brownish but it's hard to tell if that is just a shade of grey. You are freaking me out. I can only keep one roo. I would love that roo to be an EE but I have many other straight run bantams. Mine will be three weeks tomorrow and aren't showing any combs yet. They are just starting to show some pin feathers on the back of their necks and a few feathers around the chest. Should I post pics for you all? Or just wait a little longer for that?

XD sorry

If they don't have a bunch of feathers yet, then I'd wait another week to post pics, since that's how I tell. TONS of baby EEs I've seen are silvery until they get feathers. One thing you can look at right now is their feet. The bigger the feet, the bigger chance of a roo.
Here is the website I get my epic sea of knowledge from :p

Well out of the 8 EE's I have 3 are most definitely roosters. two are bearded and muffed. Naturally the largest isn't. Not sure what to call the second one's color scheme.
Are you keeping any Roo's? I'm comforted that not all your grey ones are boys. Are you happy with three out of 8? I have 8 in question too. Yours are several weeks older than mine. All your birds are gorgeous. I love the color range you have going on.

I'll be keeping at least one of these Easter eggers. I also have 6 Australorps and plan to keep at least one rooster out of that batch. They are pretty good chicks so far. Thanks for the compliment.
