Hi there! We recently started a small backyard flock, and I've been lurking on this forum for the past few months as we've been gathering information and learning the ins and outs of raising chicks. There's lots of great resources and information here!
Anyway, here I am with the classic "pullet or cockerel" question for my first post. Our chicks are 5 weeks old, and we purchased them from Cackle Hatchery. We have a Silver Laced Wyandotte and a Salmon Faverolle that seem to be pullets. The chick in question is an Easter Egger. I've wondered if this chick might be a cockerel due to the larger, brighter comb, and the way it carries itself. It's also quite bossy with the others. This morning, when the sun came up and our neighbor's rooster started crowing, the little Easter Egger straightened up and let out what sounded like a (very cute) attempt at a crow. Wish I had it on video!
I've attached a few photos. Thanks in advance for any input!
