Easter egger questions

hi im thinking about getting Easter Egger chicks, my one pullet died so im thinking of adding some more chicks to the flock, i think blue/green colored eggs would be cool (if they make it to that) im not as much concerned if they lay tan eggs, i wont disown them if they lay tan don’t worry lol, i wanted to know can you tell what color they (the pullet) will be from when their a chick? Like i dont want a black Easter Egger, looks too much like an Australorp and its too hot here, im fine with the normal Easter Egger colors, i cant find colors of an Easter Egger though im not sure if Easter eggers come in light colors like buff or white etc, but my main question is can you tell as a chick? Also do you guys know if theres a shop in the Houston area that sells ameraucana’s? I originally wanted them but i cant seem to find them anywhere for a decent price.

I have 2 EEs, and I adore them. I have a black one, and she was all black as a chick. My other one has the most fabulous array of brown, tan, and Grey's... We actually named her Owly because she looks like an Owl! They lay beautiful robin-like blue eggs, sometimes olive, sometimes turquoise. We had no idea what color they were going to turn out (except Kuro, she's always been black). As a side note.... I have 3 Americaunas, and hate is a strong word but I definitely won't be sad when they pass. They're aloof, roam (a LOT), don't want any human interaction (unless you have food)... The only thing they're good for is eggs, they're definitely the best layers. But if you're looking more for pets than egg laying, I'd steer away from the Caunas. The EE make much better friends. Although if I were looking strictly for pets, I'd get an ornamental breed. I have Splash Marans and they're the BEST (hens, not roosters... They're pretty but they're jerks lol).

I have a white Easter egger, with a little tiny bit of gold streaked into her feathers. She lays robins egg blue eggs. She was a pure white fluff ball as a chick, did not look like the chipmunk streaked other chicks at the farm store, but I couldn't resist her. Still laying at 4 years old, but I'd expect nothing less from an Easter egger.

The sweetest is Peaches. The easiest to get in the coop is Peaches. The hardest is Viola. But they are all pains in the a*s to get in the coop. LOL

I started with a flock of 6 EE chicks and I love them all so much. I handled them a lot as chicks and they are all great. Some are more friendly than others, but one in particular is so affectionate and will hop on my lap as soon as I sit down and sometimes even waits at my feet for me to pick her up. 4 of them started with the common buff, chipmunk stripe coloring and they all grew to have basically brownish coloring. One was a little darker and she ended up gray with cream head feathers and my darkest chick ended up black with whitish head/neck feathers. So I'd say if you want to avoid black EEs, avoid dark chicks.
