Ming Ming is a cockerel. (big red comb and patchy color pattern) Very pretty, though.

I have a Ming too.

I always think of her as my "Frankenstein Bird" because she looks like she was pieced together from 4 different birds.

I've gotta say I absolutely love the splash laced red EE in the background. I want one like that!

Thanks for replying! I assumed as much (we really do fall in love with our Roos.) So sad, though, as unless we find an out of village limits home we don't get to keep our Roos.

Yeah, it's tough. I can legally have roosters, but have too many nearby neighbors that I'd like to stay on good terms with.

I can see why you are worried, but can't tell anything for sure from these pics.  If you can get some in better light it would be good.  Maybe someone can hold them for you. 

I'm almost too scared to post more pictures. We've gotten so attached to these 6 birds. I can't believe that I might have to try and find homes for maybe 4-5 Roos. Because they are EE's, I'm holding out hope that the gender identifying traits could be all mixed up. My biggest and most outgoing, Acorn, who feathered out first, now has a 3 row pea comb. But it's not that pink. My all white Snowball has a single comb, but it's very red also has a strange, almost hole on the very top. Anyway, only 5 weeks in, so hoping for the best. I can't imagine letting them become fishing lures, they are so friendly and bonded to each other.

That is our little Wester, she is my tiniest bird but lays very pretty blue eggs like a trooper and she gives the big meanies in the flock a run for their money, she sleeps on the big girl roost at night though they do their darndest to get her off most of the time. She is a doll, and though she is a bit skittish she handles some handling pretty well these days.

So we have had the WORST luck with chicks. We are 8/10 with our chicks being roos. We got 4 new chicks yesterday and were told they are 5 week old EE. Anyone want to guess on genders?
