Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Maybe, i've never actually seen him angry, just terrified of the bigger barred rocks. I'll have to monitor his eyebrow expressions now.

That picture of your rooster at 3 weeks looks amazingly like the girl in the last picture. I just love how they can start feathering one color, then completely change directions a few months later. It's so fun watching them grow! Mine are all nearing the adult stage right now, but two of the EEs are changing colors yet again. They are 21 weeks today. No eggs yet, but I don't expect any from my EEs for another month. I do however have 3 Cinnamon Queens that have huge combs and wattles and it's about darn time since they are supposed to mature early....

My EE's have started to lay at 21 weeks. I would guess one of my white girls, because they have been very red in the face, and I've caught them in the nesting boxes for a few minutes just testing the waters. My girls and boy turned 23 weeks old on Saturday, and I've been getting eggs since not last Friday, but the Friday before.

They've been squatting for a month now. And thank you! I love the whites too! I am going to try to get pure whites with slate legs. The judges said they represented Ameraucanas very well EXCEPT for the darn legs. They are very talkative girls and are always whining about something!

Wow, 21 weeks is early for EEs, right? What color eggs are you getting? I have 5 EEs and none are even starting to get any red on their combs yet...They may be late bloomers. I'm super stoked about getting eggs soon, they will be my first ever, but those blue and green ones will be something really special.

The eggs are turquoise :D

I thought 20-24 weeks was the norm. I know some people have had issues with late bloomers, but not with this group of girls. All are squatting and being mated, so I'm confident all will be laying really soon.

I am so jealous of your turquoise eggs! My EE just started laying and they are a pale brown (pinkish) color! I wanted blue eggs sooooo bad! She has a pea comb and slate legs and is one of my most beautiful patterned bird. She started laying at 22 + 3 days old. Have had a small egg every day for the past 2 days. I am looking into getting some true Ameraucanas this fall so I can have blue eggs next spring!

Here is a picture :) I was so darn excited to see that first blue egg half buried in the shavings beside my cochin's egg! It was very exciting! Be careful where you get true Ameraucanas. There are a lot of fakes out there! I just got my first bantam Ameraucanas last week. They are adorable, but I still like my EEs more ;)
