Who's been picking feathers off your birds??? Looks like the tell-tale saddle area is missing from Harpo too. I find it much easier to see the saddle feathers than the hackles.

In these pics, Harpo looks as much like a pullet as Groucho. The dark red on the wings is not up near the shoulders where you usually expect to see it for cockerels. Guess you're still going to have to wait, but I think there's still hope! At least she's screaming like a girl and not crowing like a roo.

I think you have 2 pretty pullets, but I wouldn't totally be floored if harpo crowed that comb is definately 3 rows, but as all my EE baby boys were crowing by 17 weeks SOOOO let me know, I'm praying for a girl Very beautiful chicky either way......

I haven't seen anyone plucking feathers in over 2 months. There are several of the EEs that are still covered with pin feathers down their backs and on their tails, while the others are fully feathered. I'm not sure why but Groucho, Harpo, Camo, Opal, Pearl, and Sonny are still growing in their feathers.

Well, I think Harpo is a roo :(
I will try and get some pictures tomorrow, but I am pretty sure I found hackle and saddle feathers coming in. I also need to post some new pics of Camo. His saddles are starting to come in and are metalic red. I thought he was bleeding, so I took a closer look and found out it was new feathers.

Oh, and neither of them are crowing yet. Hopefully they are both mimes, because when they start crowing they have to go :(

I know it's probably too early (and I probably need better pics. iPhone and bad lighting. I'll try again tomorrow in the sun) but I am really afraid that Emma-it is a cockerel. I got "her" from The Urban Farm Store. Sold as an Ameracauna, but I'm sure it's not. He/she is 4 weeks old and is always chest bumping and starting wing-offs and stare-downs even though it's the smallest of the flock. Always off by him/herself (95% in the food dish, which also makes me think boy ;p ) Comb just started to pop and has a pinker hue than the others which are different breeds but much bigger. No red on the wings because I'd almost think it's going to be a barred color (do they come that color?). Any help, much appreciated.

That looks like a boy to me. I am pretty confident it is :/ Unfortunately. The comb is very raised, and it looks like he is feathering in really slowly. That in combination with how often black and white EEs are boys VS girls..

X2. Typical slow feathering at shoulders.

clogan98, I'd bet money that he's silver duckwing based rather than gold so he'll have blocks of white on the upper wing rather than red. It's still a boy pattern. And yes, the comb is also turning and he has the bare areas typical of a 4-week cockerel chick. No doubt in my mind on this one.

Camo...looking more like a hawk everyday!

Harpo...still not sure.

Are these saddle feathers?

Harpo (far right) with some of the other EEs.

Mindy, just because...Opal sneaking in.
