Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

So another one of those darn black and white EEs, 13-14 weeks old. I'm leaning towards pullet (s/he's from a straight run), but that little bit of brown flecking in the feathers and the size of the comb have me nervous, though at least it isn't bright pink.  Don't need another cockerel, my black and white feed store "pullet" already turned out to be a cockerel (last pic ~5 months).

This one looks like a roo. The comb is just too big to ignore...

3 weeks later and updated pics, still has the odd tail but comb isn't any bigger or pinker, if anything, it almost looks smaller.  And no sudden appearance of red on the shoulders...yay!
Pullet on this one :) Tail means nothing to me - I've had pullets with the same tail. They go through a stage like this.

Now why did I think that was a picture of the bird in question grown up? Can you tell I just woke up a few minutes ago? I'm sorry haha! As for the REAL quandary, I am still going to vote roo because that's what one of my roos looked like growing up, although the picture in the middle makes it look like it has a pullet-like body shape, so there is still hope! You will know for sure if he starts growing silver or gold hackle feathers in with the black.

I often do that early in the morning. Never listen to me before 10am
That was my exact thoughts as well, the profile picture looks very girly.

Yeah, I was holding out hope it was just a big, weird comb because of the single comb influence (Marans x EE). Even if it is a roo, it looks like I have a 50/50 split in my SR group, not bad. Plan was to send the boys to freezer camp but I still have the three suprise crowers from my five feed store "pullets" running around.

I want to say pullet just because the profile picture doesn't show any real hackle or saddle feathers yet for a roo. Yea the comb is a bit big but maybe you will have an early layer on your hands. My experience has been that the combs have been red by 13-14 weeks as a roo unless its a slow growing roo.
