I don't mind but the neighbors would probably have issues with him, so looks like I'm gonna have to re-home himBuster it is then. Hope you don't mind having a roo.

Thank you all. I think you are all right also, just wanted more opinions since I am a first time chicken owner. I guess I will have to come up with a different name, so much for Eleanor.

Wow! That was fast. This is a good picture to see the three ridges that show up in the combs of most of the cockerels. Sorry you have to give him up, but at least now you will be prepared.
Adalaide looks like a big girl! And I think she is a girl, with a typical pullet color pattern. The combs are not a perfect indicator, because some EEs have a lot of straight comb influence mixed with the pea type. I also found that my young pullet would 'pink up' a bit if she was excited or hot, but she was not the raspberry pink like the cockerel. You can compare yours to my two hatchery chicks who were 5-6 weeks at the time.Hello Everyone!
I thought I would add to the long list of newbies who are trying to determine sex. I felt better after reading through this thread but then got nervous when "Adelaide's" comb looks fairly pink and it looks like there are three rows of comb (this is "pea-like" right?) S(he) is 5 1/2 weeks old..
Sorry about the pics. They are from my iphone, BOTH my hubby's camera and mine are broken (can you believe it?!?)

I noticed that too, but thought it was more the pointed color pattern on the hackles rather than their shape. It did make me hesitate, though. The op should check for the shape of the feather. Have you ever seen an EE with that type of overall coloring end up being a rooster? I guess there's always exceptions. No saddle feather, no dark red showing on the wings.... yet. What do you think? Maybe some others will offer an opinion.I'm a LITTLE worried about the pointy hackle feathers but MAYBE they are just brand new and haven't fully opened up? The ones higher up the neck are rounder. And the comb is maybe 3 row.
I'm guessing this will be a beautiful bird.
