Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Is this chick a pullet or rooster? I am so confused!
smile.png
He/she is about 3 weeks old and has a white chest (so far). Any thoughts?

Kind of young to tell. The upright stance can suggest boy but it could be something interesting was happening and s/he is just checking it out. I might be a little worried about the legs since they seem kind of thick (a guy thing). Agree that a good picture of the comb could help.

From everything I read on this thread so far, I believe my chicks show signs of being pullets, I was hoping to get your opinions here are pics of the two of them:

1st off is Haddie - both chicks are 6 weeks old and do not show much of a comb at all. Both have green legs and both have a noticeable pattern of feathers and so far not much red feathering. So what do you guys think? Thank you for your help!

I'd go with both girls. I don't see combs or mahogany/rust splotches on the upper wing (I think they would start showing by 6 weeks), legs don't seem thick. "Gold/black head and Partridge body" pullets have been posted several times. My green layer has a partridge pattern and mostly black head with penciled neck feathers edged in gold. I wouldn't be surprised if Maddie ends up similarly patterned/colored.

At the moment, they seem to be in their "awkward teenager" feather stage

At what age should I put up pictures of my EE's on here to be sexed? My six are about four weeks old now, is that too early? Thanks!

It's never too early to guess wrong. LOL

Seriously, we can try, but there's a greater margin for error at this age. They are beginning to get their feathers and some recognizable patterns might be seen but for definitive answers you might have to wait until they are older (2 months?).

Thank you, I am really enjoying watching my 2 EE's and all the color changes and I am glad to hear that everyone thinks they are hens too.

I posted a pic of this chic earlier maybe post 2240 or 2239. Anyway, here is an updated pic. Is he/she looking like a roo to you guys?

You can see the comb in profile here, and in the early pic it looks wide, so based on the comb, it looks more like a cockerel to me. Is the comb still pale? How old is s/he?
