Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Hey guys, how fast did your EEs feather out? I have 1 EE chick named Bunny. Its feathering slow...I already see a bump on Bunny's cob where its starting to show, he/she is 2 weeks the most. i know young but tell me what you think? Do the roos still feather out slowly? This is my only EE chick. My other one died due to shipping. I really hope this one is a girl.

Ummm.... er.... well, not really sure. Still leaning toward cockerel (mostly because of the uneven color pattern). The black and white EEs, for whatever reason, are hard to tell. You will probably know for sure in another week or so. Hopefully. Sometimes this color can keep you guessing for awhile.

What does everyone else think?

Okay, thanks anyway though! She's pretty much the only one I'm not sure on. Also, thought I'd add that I bought her as a sexed pullet. So fingers crossed eh? :)

My cockerel feathered at the same pace as the pullets. The first difference I noticed was that his comb had more definition. You could see a row of distinct pea bumps at 3 weeks. The outer rows weren't visible for a few more weeks. At 4 weeks, the comb had blushed pink and he was getting dark red splotches on his otherwise white body. He had a long tail like the females but the feathers were pointed rather than blunt and they curled a bit toward the center. Behavior-wise, he acted babyish much longer than the females and was quite timid. Exactly the opposite of what folks often presume is early cockerel behavior...

The cockerel that I'm sure I have out of my group of six feathered in a lot more slowly, and he didn't feather in a definate color like the others have. He has a much more upright stance and has never actually been one for being held. He's actually pretty much at the same pace in growing his feathers now with the others, but it took him more time of being a fuzzy chick to transition rapidly into losing his baby fluff and growing dark feathers ( with red spots on his wings as well).

Don't you know the rule here? No pictures = didn't happen :)
lol

This is Hawk, who feathered in "typical girl" but was definitely boy. I wish I got some pictures of him before we rehomed him - he was really pretty.

Growing up...

And then the red starts coming in:

I have a 5 1/2 week old EEer that I'd like advice on

She was solid white as a baby chick, and has some rust coming in. It's very similar to my other EE here who is definitely a hen:

EXCEPT. This chick has the rust coming in mostly on it's head/neck where my EE hen has it on her body and not neck. And it as these weird individual dark grey/black feathers coming in on it's head and under one wing, which is different from my EE hen...

Here s/he is, Thoughts?

These cheeks are awesome, aren't they? :)
