Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Oh, and chicks fight in much the same way whether male or female. Heck, I have a hen that fights like a rooster! Doesn't mean a thing.

I hate to be a downer, but I had an EEer that looked just like that who turned out o be a roo. I hope yours doesn't though. :)
When I first got her (3 days old). Agnes is the chick on the right. Chipmunk striping, very dark center of the back, head is brown-red patterned.

And now at 4 weeks. Neck feathers are coming in light with black centers.

Look at these legs!

Popsicle, yours is a boy -- pointy tail feathers and deep red patches coming in on wings. Huffchickens, I don't know on your EE because the pictures won't enlarge on my screen and I can't make out enough detail in the little ones

Hope you don't mind if I cut in on this for help getting my 4.5 Week Old Easter Egger sexed. I'm really worried becaue she has thick legs and is easily the biggest chick that we have. She was a dark baby but she's feathering in white now.

She's probably the calmest chicken that we have too. We can do anything to her! I can take better pics of anything specific at request. Thank you!

Our Easter babies are just turning 2 weeks. I've enjoyed them so much, but I do find myself not looking too hard at them right now. I know the day is coming soon enough when I'll need to know for sure, how many roos and hens.

I'm going to read back through this site, and catch up, and let it come to me slowly...
So, I'm sure you'll see me here (with photos) soon asking..."Rooster or Hen?"
I would love to know what they will end up looking like but, gotta just take it a day at a time and use it for my own learning experience. We'll be breeding these again, so then I'll be more of the expert. This time, I'm just the mama.

Good luck everyone!

I just hatched this baby today, and another one followed about 2 hours later. They are EE//BLRW cross. 6 more eggs to go!

When the white and black are in patches like that, it is usually a boy. A better pic of the comb might help, but it did look red when I enlarged.
