Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Can anyone help me out with this "guy". I picked him up as a cockeral, he is about 20+ weeks but am starting wonder if he is a she. Has a red comb but growth isnt any more than his EE sisters, and waddles are there but havent grown in about 2 months. Any help is appreciated!

At 20 weeks you would be seeing shiny, pointed hackle and saddles fully grown at the base of the tail and the neck. Since I see only regular feathers all around, I'd say pullet!

I agree, since i got him as a cockeral i kinda had my blinders on till recently when i started thinking about arrangements to separate some boys...

He is a pure lavender americauna over a SLW! Should be some pretty eggs! I got him cause he looked like the color of a black and gray tattoo! Excuse me, she!

Does a three way comb automatically makes it a roo or no?I'm new to EEs

Three rows of peas PLUS intense redness before 4-5 months old usually means roo. Sometimes EE pullets will have three rows of peas, but their combs will not grow nor turn red until they are a few weeks from laying.

But... given the variations within EE's (as Ameraucana &/or Araucana crosses/mixed breed birds) does that red/brown shoulders, back, and rump/hip area necesnecessarily mean anything in terms of gender? I could swear one of the original 4 EE (Ameraucana x ?) hens I had was colored very similar to this. I always look at feather shape first... and pray my "pullet" doesn't crow!

I agree, looks a lot like one of my girls! I love the blue/black hues EE's. With the parentage you describe she should lay some minty-green eggs, I would guess.
